The facts on boat lemon law

Not all states in the United States have boat lemon laws. It’s not just because some states are landlocked.

Ohio State’s boat lemon law, which applies to all kinds of consumer boats, sail boats, powered boats, jet skis, and other kinds of consumer water vessels, perhaps best illustrates the point.

The state’s boats lemon law says a buyer who finds any defect in his boat, which is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, can give the manufacturer a reasonable chance to get it fixed, and the manufacturer must do so.

If the manufacturer can’t fix the defect, or if there are an alarming number of defects, the buyer is entitled to a refund. The boat is officially lemon under Ohio law.
